Matchmaking looks a little different than it did back in shtetl times, but that doesn’t mean you can’t woo someone the ‘old fashioned way’ by using a few Yiddish pick up lines.
After all, what’s more charming than making your date laugh?
One Tik Tok user found a document from the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research outlining 60 opening lines given to participants at a Yiddish speed dating event in 1919.
The lines range from “Don’t stick your finger between the door” to “For one kiss, I will give up half a lifetime.”
Like we said, Yiddish pick up lines might not be the most endearing, but they’re a sure fire way to make your date laugh. Use at your own risk!
