Google is buzzing with people searching to see if Jeff Bezos is Jewish— spoiler, he’s not.

According to Google trends, variations of the search string “Is Jeff Bezos Jewish?” or more crassly put “Is Bezos a Jew?” are up significantly.

We understand why there may be some interest in this question. In 2018 there was a high profile social media smear campaign that originated in Saudi Arabia which “accused” Bezos of being Jewish.

To make a long story short, Bezos was born Jeffrey Preston Jorgensen in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on January 12, 1964. His parents Jacklyn (née Gise) and Theodore Jørgensen divorced soon after his birth and his mother married Cuban immigrant Miguel “Mike” Bezos in April 1968.

Bezos is in the headlines today because he shot himself into space on his rocket Blue Origin… which had Jewish social media buzzing, for other (inappropriate) reasons.

With Bezos now focusing on other things, Amazon’s newly appointed CEO is actually Jewish.
