This year, as we navigate a time of challenge, many of us are embracing the High Holidays in new ways — whether with quiet reflection or by celebrating Jewish joy. No matter how your family observes, one thing remains constant: the importance of food and tradition.
That’s why Unpacked is launching our Rosh Hashanah Recipe Contest, and we want your family’s best recipes for the Jewish New Year. Whether it’s an appetizer, soup, entrée, or dessert, share the dish that makes your holiday table special. The top recipes will be featured on our site for the whole community to enjoy!
What we’re looking for:
- Unpublished, original family recipes (no adaptations from cookbooks, please!)
- Recipes that reflect the diverse flavors of Jewish cuisine—whether it’s an age-old tradition, a modern twist, or something completely new. “Jewish food” looks different for every family and we’re trying to show that off!
- If there’s a story to this specific dish, we’d love to hear it and include it with the recipe. The best food has history and these experiences can make preparing these recipes meaningful for our readers!
How to submit your Rosh Hashanah recipe
Fill out this Google Form with the instructions for the recipe. Check out our recipe section to get a sense of the types of recipes we looking for and the structure of our recipes. We will not accept submissions that do not list ingredients, measurements, and clear steps of how to make the recipe.
Submit your Rosh Hashanah recipe by October 1 for a chance to be featured. Our team will reach out if your recipe is selected.
Let’s celebrate the rich tapestry of Jewish food and family traditions this Rosh Hashanah. We can’t wait to see (and taste!) what you’re cooking.
